Keeping Things Simple

Today I was planning a quick trip to town to buy some presents for some upcoming Birthdays. I knew I was only going to be in town for a couple of hours and they idea of putting all my makeup on was not at all appealing.

Instead, I decided to opt for these little beauties in the picture above. I started with the Clinque moisturiser as the cold weather really isn't being kind to my skin, followed by Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and my Maybelline Matte Maker powder which I absolutely love. For my eyes, I simply used the shades 'Sin' and 'Darkhorse' from my Naked palette followed by my Daniel Sandler mascara, a favourite of mine at the moment. For my brows I went for my everyday HD Brows kits, I've recently hit pan on this and am honestly going to be so sad when it runs out. To add a little bit of colour to my lips, I went for Maybelline 14hr Lipstick in the shade plum, another favourite. Basically I just used all my favourite things!

This is the first time that I have worn this combo of makeup and I actually really loved it, it took a lot less time and left my skin feeling a lot lighter than normal, perfect for those simpler days.

What's your quick and easy go-to makeup?

Hello Spring! Wishlist

| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 8 | 9 |

It's the first day of spring wahooo!

I thought that it would be pretty fitting to make a wishlist of some of the items I have been eyeing up for spring and summer. When I first had the idea for this wishlist, I imagined lots of bright colours and prints, but no, lots of dark colours it seems!

I absolutely love all of this items and just looking at them makes me excited for the weather that is yet to come. I am currently sat in my kitchen and can see clear blue sky through the skylight, once all my work is finished I cannot wait to get out and enjoy it. Looking at this wishlist, I am picturing lots of outfit combinations, I especially like the idea of the flowered dress, floppy hat and sandals together, and have a feeling this will be my go-to outfit this summer.

I'm so excited that the 70s is in fashion this summer as it's one of my favourite fashion eras, the black top really remind me of this style and I can't wait to wear it with the shorts that I have picked too. Oh, and don't even get me started on my love for the dungarees, a must have for this summer if you ask me.

What is your favourite item from my wishlist?

Origrami Polaroid Prints

Last year I did a little post about these prints which you can read here. I decided to add to my collection a few weeks ago and get some photos printed of the past year. I really enjoyed going through all my pictures from the past 12 months and picking a few of my favourites, I think it's going to become an annual thing.

I ordered the prints from Origami, a great website that works through Instagram. All you have to do is go onto the website, log on with you Instagram details and click the photos you want to printed. They also do quite a variety of image styles, such as the square prints or polaroids with special information about the photo and where is was taken on the back. The company themselves are Australian but the photos tend to arrive in about two weeks which isn't bad considering. Plus, for about £12 after conversion for 36 prints, they really are great value.

I currently have mine pegged on to long pieces of string behind my bed. I had them like this before but I think they look a lot better with more photos. The lighting isn't the best in my room at University, but when I move back home soon, I will be sure to take a picture.

How do you like to display your favourite pictures?

nspa Melting Cleansing Gel

When it comes to my skin I alway tend to play it safe, opting for brands that I recognise, usually with words like 'spot fighting' or 'no more blackheads', so when I received this Nspa Melting Cleansing Gel at the last Southampton meet up, I assumed it would be far too gentle to work for my skin.

In all honesty, I really only started using it because I ran out of my usual face wash so was hunting through my goody bag looking for an alternative. I'll cut right to the chase, I am absolutely in love with this product!

It goes on with the consistency of a gel which feels so nice on the skin, and you just add water to turn it into a cleansing milk, perfect for cleaning my face. I think what I like most about it is how it doesn't dry out my skin like a lot of face washes do, it simply leaves it feeling refreshed. It's also incredibly soothing, I don't know about anyone else but the idea of using a harsh face wash at night completely puts me off.

My mind has completely turned me around about this face wash and I can't wait to repurchase it once this runs out, along with some of the different products they offer. They don't break me out and feel so good on my skin!

Have you tried anything in the Nspa range?

Last Saturday, as my Mum was visiting, we decided to catch the short train ride to Bournemouth. Surprisingly I've never been before, despite it only being a 30-minute train ride away. I tweeted before about some good places to check out and some lovely girls on twitter gave me some great pointers.

I Love Spring Tag

I've been getting way too excited at the prospect of spring and summer, I have a lot of plans this year, and once my work is finished, I will be making them most of the time I have. I've done the tag below to get me even more in the mood!

1. Favourite spring nail polish
I absolutely love pastel shades during spring time, especially light purples and blues.

2. Must have spring lip colour

I  tend to go for lighter shades of the dark purples I have been wearing all winter long, Rimmel London's Asia is one of my favourites.

3. Your favourite spring dress

I wear dresses pretty much all year round, but I love being able to opt for skin coloured tights, or thinner black tights instead of the thick black ones you have to wear during winter. Plus, I've got a lot of thinner dresses that I haven't been able to wear since last summer.
4. Favourite flower
I don't really have one particular as my favourite but I love wild flowers, I even have some fake ones in my room. Obviously they don't beat the real thing, but I just love the way they mismatch together.

5. Favourite spring scarf/accessory

I guess this isn't really an accessory, but I love putting my hair in a messy bun during spring, it keeps it out of my face and I hate not being able to do it in winter when my hair doubles as a scarf.
6. What spring trends are you most looking forward to?
I am so excited for the 70s bohemian trend that is expected for spring and summer this year. It's one of my absolute favourite styles.

7. Favourite spring candle

Ohhh... this is so difficult, anything flowery or fresh is perfect for spring time. Maybe Yankee Candle's Shea Butter.

8. Favourite perfume/body spray

I love all of the Marc Jacobs perfumes, especially Daisy Dream, it's so fresh and perfect for spring.

9. What is spring like where you live?

In Southampton, most days it's clear blue skies and a fresh morning breeze if we are lucky. At my home in the North west it's similar, but not quite as warm.

10. What is your favourite thing about spring?

Knowing that summer is on the way. As soon as the clocks change, the days feel longer and it just feels like there is so much more to do in the day. Even if it's just spending a day at the park, gosh, I am getting excited just thinking about it!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

I like to have a clear out in spring, as I hate having a room cluttered with things especially during summer. It's nice to keep things fresh and clean.

12. Any plans for spring break or upcoming vacations

I have quite a few plans for this summer, I'm travelling to 12 countries and have lots of little adventures planned. It's my last summer before stepping out into the big wide world and getting a full time job, so I'm trying to do as much as I can, but I'm sure you will hear about this a lot more soon.

Let me know if you do the tag, as I would love to read it!

Pentax K1000

As mentioned in a previous post, my Dad kindly bought me a Pentax K1000 for my 21st Birthday. After beginning to take a strong interest in film photography these past few months, I began researching into the best film camera to invest in. After reading online, the Pentax K1000 seemed like the best choice for a film photographer beginner.

Last week, me and my friend Louise decided to spend the day in London. Despite it being one of my favourite places, I only tend to visit four or five times a year, so was very excited at another trip, especially with one of my closest friends.

Louise studies Interior Design and needed research material, so we headed to the Fashion and Textile Museum near London Bridge. I've visited before, but this time they had a Thea Porter exhibition on. It was incredibly interesting and focused on the 70s Bohemian Chic, which is one of my favourite styles. The exhibition is perfect for anyone interested in fashion or fabric design.

After we had finished there, we decided to spend the day being 'proper' tourists. We went to the V&A museum, I had never been round their theatre production part but absolutely fell in love with the costumes and set designs they had. We also went to the Natural History Museum. I have been here before too, but only in school holidays, all I will say is... Children EVERYWHERE. It was slightly chaotic but we knew we both wanted to have a look round the animal biology part, so didn't spend too long looking round the rest after that.

I'm writing an essay at Uni comparing the digital and material culture of shopping so knew Harrods was going to be the next place on the list. Not going to lie, we spent most of our time in the food area, where they literally had the most amazing food ever. We were both quite tempted and ended up buying a Dough-sant. I'd never heard of them before, but they are basically a croissant/doughnut mixed in. I swear I could have picked it up and eaten it right then and there, but I patiently waited till after our lunch.

After we had been to Azzurros for one of the best pizzas ever, we walked down along Southbank which was absolutely beautiful as the sun was just setting and sat looking over Big Ben, London eye and the Thames and ate my Dough-sant, it was bliss haha!

I was really sad when the day was over, but can't wait to go back again soon!

Bionsen Roll-Deodorant

In complete honesty, when it has come to deodorants, in the past I haven't put much thought into them. As long as they smell good and don't irritate my skin, I tend to throw them in the basket without giving it too much thought.

Last week I was contact by Bionsen and asked to review their 'Caring Touch' roll-on deodorant. Although I prefer roll-on, I seem to always go for aerosol for some reason. At the end of the day, I guess you could simply say, 'does it do what it is supposed to?' Well, yes, but I can't quite believe how much I actually like this. I don't know if it's because I have been paying more attention to it for the purpose of this blog post, but I can't get enough. It doesn't leave that sticky residue that means you have to walk around with you arms in the air till it drys for what feels like forever. I have literally been applying this and get ready straight away. It also lasts for 10+ hours, (yes, I did just smell my armpit to tell you that, oh the glamour!) It also moisturises to make the skin feel soft and supple, and who does love a nice armpit?!

Recently I have been looking at using products that use less chemicals in, as I don't honestly know whats in a lots of the products I use. This and the entire Bionsen range has Japanese spa minerals and is free from aluminium and parabens which can cause skin irritation.

Not only has this deodorant my absolute favourite, I'm a complete roll-on converter and will be picking it up every time.

You can purchase it from Boots for £2.35 from the 9th March.
Don't forget to follow Bionsen on twitter and facebook!

My Favourite Boots

Despite being a firm lover of spring and summer, winter fashion, or most winter boots are one of my favourite things.

I bought these shoes a fewmobtha ago from Primark of all places. As soon as I saw them I fell in love and knew I had to have them in my ever-growing collection of boots. I just love how chunky they are, and they imediately add an edge to any outfit. I have been wearing them most of winter with leggings and dresses, perfect to add something to my mostly boring outfits.

Despite being a big lover of summer, I'm not going to lie, I will be very sad to say goodbye to these little beauties when the weather gets nice again. Of course, I will welcome them with open arms when the weather turns cold again... But lets not talk about that yet.

What are you favourite winter item that you sad to be getting rid of?
