Fresh Starts and New Beginnings...
Every year I set myself some targets for the year rather than resolutions. That way even if it takes me till November to achieve I know that I have all year to aim for. I sometimes find that for me, resolutions can mean that one day you're trying to act like a completely different person to the day before and this can often lead to unrealistic goals.
For the past 3 years, on this very day,  I have made a blog post about my aims for the year, which you can check out here. I really can't believe this is my fourth time doing a post like this! Below are the targets I set myself for the year 2014 and whether I achieved them or not.

Spend more time with family and friends
I've worked really hard this year to make the most of the time that I spend with my family and friends. Being at University tends to means that no matter where I am, I am always missing someone. As long as I am making the effort to spend time with people, I think that is all that matters.

Organise my time efficiently to make the most out of it
I have made a lot of progress with this goal this year but still feel like I need to improve more. I've realised I work incredibly hard about things I am passionate about such as my blog, but when it comes to managing my time amongst a range of things, I still have a little way to go.

Make new friends and spend time getting to know people better
This year I went to my first blog meet up and event. It was so sweet and got talking to a lovely group of girls who I am looking forward to getting to know more soon hopefully. I also feel my friendships with people at my work have improved so much. One of the girls, who I now consider one of my closest friends. This year I have definitely made new friends, but what I've really learnt is, its not how many friends you have but who they are. The friendships I have now mean more to me than any part time friendships I've had in past.

Lose weight (3st)
I swear every year I have to admit I didn't do this. I have lost nearly a stone but obviously, this is not quite the goal I had set. In truth my yo-yo dieting is becoming a big problem. I have lost about 2 and a half stone altogether this year but I tend to put some on, then lose some over and over again. I desperately need to stop this.

Travel abroad
I didn't travel as much as I wanted to this year (although next year will certainly make up for this). I did go abroad however with my family. this is the first time just me, my Mum and my Brother have been abroad on our own and it was truly amazing. We stayed in a beautiful villa with it's own pool and were spoilt with glorious weather all week.

Continue to upload regularly on my blog and youtube
I have honestly got so much better at this through the year. Where I would previously go a week or two before I started to feel bad about not blogging but now it's a matter of days. I have a set schedule that I like to keep to, and although I don't always get it right. I am blogging a lot more know, and to put it simply, it's because I enjoy it even more than I use to. In terms of youtube, I do find it difficult to fill in my University house but when I get chance I absolutely love it, and feel like my videos have got a lot better in the past year.

Appreciate all the things that I am lucky to have
This year I feel like I have been a lot more thankful, I've appreciated the time I get to spend with my family. My amazing friends at University who are along with my family are my absolute heros have been a main focus this year. I think it's because I know the end of University is on the way, but I am starting to really appreciate that this time next year my whole life will be completely different. I don't nessarily mean this negatively, but it has made me want to appreciate the right now and all that I have.

Accept the way I am
Ok, I still have a huge way to go with this. in truth I am not happy with myself at all and constantly notice every flaw. My friend recently asked me to name something that I really liked about myself and I honestly struggled. It made me feel so embarrassed and ashamed to say I couldn't think of one thing that I liked about myself, how is that acceptable for anyone to think this way. I am determined to get there. I believe that there is nothing wrong with liking yourself and encourage everyone to do the same.

This year I have 11 targets, which is quite a few more than my 8 last year, but I really stubbled to get rid of any, and sure with a sting amount of determination, anything is possible.

I truly hope everyone has a brilliant new year and all your dreams for 2015 come true!

  1. These are such good resolutions, some of which I have set for myself too! Hope you've had a great start into 2015, maybe we'll see each other again some time in the new year?! :) xx

  2. Great resolutions girl!!! They're not to hard and you can continually work on it!!! I'm just like you with the whole weight gain and lose and vice versa but I'm hoping this will be the year I make a change! We all have to start with a WHY...why do we want to do it, is it because of you or a bigger picture! Once we get that in mind we are unstoppable with our resolutions!!!

    Happy New Year!!!!

  3. What incredible and motivating targets you've set! I'm sure you'll excel in everything you aim to do.

Good luck and happy new year :)
