Fashion and Textiles Museum

Being a big fan of Exhibitions and Museums, I was quite excited when I found out that one of our units at University would involve writing an Exhibition review. My lecturer advised that we wrote about the current Exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum. With that in mind, me and two friends boarded the train to London where we looked round the Exhibition and went on a adventure around the captial (which you can read about here).

I've never been to the Fashion and Textile Museum before so was completely unsure what to expect. With my student card, it cost £5.50 which I think is a real bargain and made for a inexpensive day out with my friends. The Exhibition itself, examines the relationship between art and clothing focusing on how they developed through time. The exhibition allow you to walk through the years and see the different eras in clothing.

Overall, the exhibition was really great and I would recommend it to anyone who has some free time. It allows you to gain a new understanding on fashion design while showing beautiful dresses and pieces of art to admire all day long!

OOTD: A Practical Winter Look

T-Shirt- Primark
Necklace- Matalan
Leggings- New Look
Cardigan- Primark
Bag- River Island
Shoes- Nike

With the weather currently as it is, deciding what outfits to wear has become quite a pain on a daily basis. While I want to look nice the temptation to pull on a jumper and leggings then head out the door sometimes takes over. It has meant, that I have had to think about my outfits a little bit more, trying to stay comfortable while still wearing what I want.

I haven't done an outfit post in a long time, and rather than show a beautifully impractically outfit, I thought it would be better to show something that you can actually wear. This outfit is incredibly simple, but teamed with a dramatic necklace and bright cardigan really makes it look like you have put a lot more effort in than you have... bed hair alert! I ended up teaming it with a leather jacket to make sure I wasn't too cold. I also think a woolly hat would have been lovely along with this. Sometimes, the simpler the better!

Birthday Haul

My Birthday was a little different this year, rather than spending it at home, I was 200 miles away in Southampton with my university family. Although I thought the day was going to be quite different than usual, I still had a lovely time. I was truly spoilt by friends and family alike, and without sounding completely cheesy, I really did feel loved, which in my opinion, is all you can really ask for. I went home a few days before and had a mini birthday with my family, where I was again, spoilt!

Along with some really beautiful little bits I also received a 50mm Canon camera lens from my mum that I have been wanting for so long. I am actually using it to take the photos in these posts  and I really love it. It can't be best seen in these images, but it allows the background to become blurry while the foreground stays in clear focus. I will be using it a lot on my blog and trying out different techniques with this lens, so stay tuned!

From my brother I received these lovely pair of Nike trainers that I had mentioned, but never expected him to buy me. I think the light blue is perfect to wear in summer which is ideally what the shoes were for. That being said, I have been wearing them non-stop since I got them and literally couldn't be more in love with how they look.

My beautiful University friends bought me some lovely gifts too. Two of my friends bought me a photo album and some photos to feel it with. It will be perfect to fill with University memories.  Another friend also bought me Buddha. Now, I am not particularly religious but enjoy learning about different religions, particularly Buddhism and had expressed my interest in a Buddha before. I was so happy that she has bought me one and I hope this doesn't sound inappropriate, but how cute is his smile!

Overall, I had a brilliant day and regardless of presents, it was so lovely to be surrounded by my friends and family, what more could I ask for!

Food 4 Thought #1

So it was my Birthday on Tuesday, Yippee! (Haul post on Monday!) I had a lovely day considering it was my first Birthday away from home, and it really did allow me to appreciate my friends. My Birthday was the first in the house so I really didn't know what to expect. Everyone was so kind and made sure the day was beautiful. That being said, todays post is about kind gestures. Although a lot of my friends were there for me, I did feel like some people who I consider to be close friends didn't say as much as a Happy Birthday. While people I am not as close to put in a huge amount of effort to make sure I enjoyed my special day. I highly doubt the people who didn't get in touch did this on purpose, but it did allow me to consider, what if our friendship didn't exist anymore? Would it affect you in anyway? Now, this may sound a little dramatic, but me and my housemates often have trouble trying to organise time to see our friends, and considering how close we live it really is a shame when people don't make the effort in return.

This isn't a post to which I have made to slate my friends behind their back but simply to allow everyone, including myself to consider;

'Is it worth investing our time in something that continualy lets us down?'

Food for thought

Ebay Coat Wishlist

With the winter season fully setting in, it has become apparent to me why this time of the year a coat is essential, especially considering I don't actually own one. Assuming that my leather jacket would be enough to keep me warm, I highly underestimated how cold it gets during winter, stupid, I know. I have been having a browse through Ebay hoping to find that perfect coat and came across not one, but four coats that in my opinion are essential. However, knowing that I can't have all three (if only) I have decided to opt for just one, just imagine my despair.
The only problem is, which one?

London for me, is 'the place'. What I mean by that of course, is where I have always wanted to live, even if it is just for a few months. Although I know I am living in dream land and only a lucky few make it there, it has always been a dream of mind to move to the capital.

That being said, when the talk of a day trip with my friends came about I was more than excited to visit. As part of my University assignment, we had to visit an exhibition at the Fashion and Textile museum, which I would completely recommend by the way. Once we had been round the museum we decided to be proper tourists for the day and visit the local landmarks. I've been to pretty much everywhere we went to before but it was so great see the sights once again and appreciate the things that are classically british.
