I've been living at Uni for about 4 months now, and I finally feel
like I'm settled in. My walls have been covered, fairy light strung up and
nick-knacks places in every possible place. I sensed it was about time that I
shared my little room at the end of the corridor with you.
For me, a room should be somewhere
that you feel happy, safe and comfortable. When I lugged all my belongings up 5
flights of stairs in September, I stared at the empty room before me and
couldn't wait to fill it with my things. It was so bland and unloved. It’s hard
to imagine that in less than 6 months I will be clearing this room out and
again and moving into a different house. For me it was really important to make
my room special. It was my first time away from home where I didn't know anyone
and knew that my room was going to be important place to escape what was going
on at times. Being at the end of a quite corridor really does mean that I have
my own space. I can come in, shut the door and be in my own world. The walls
are covered with pictures of my family and friends. The pictures make the room
full with memories and happiness from back home.
It’s really strange how a room has
the power to transport you to a certain place or completely change you mood but
I am so happy to be able say that my room does just that!
