Lipstick Holder Under £3

I always find lipsticks in the strangest of places; pockets in bags, bottom of draws and never where I put them. Although I recently brought a tin for all my lipsticks to go in,  they never seem organised and instead piled on top of one another. You can imagine my excite when I found this little lipstick holder on Ebay for only £2.96 with free postage. The storage rack holds up to 24 lipsticks and although I had 3 or 4 lipsticks that didn't fit in (mostly the No7 Brand), most of my lippys fitted in nice and snug. I've only had it a few days but already found I'm wearing different shades then my usual 'everyday' lipstick. This means of course that I can't wait to fill it up... trip to MAC anyone?!

MUA Fur-Effect Nails

After purchasing and trying this product today I was a little on the fence as to whether to blog about it or not.  Frankly, I did not get on with this product at all and was a little disappointed.
The 'Fur-effect' nails was launched by MUA recently and is currently available in five shades. According to the instructions all you need to do is apply 2 coats of nail polish similar to the colour of the "fluff" and then tap the pot over the nails. This can be done several times until you are happy. There are several things that I found difficult with this product. Firstly the 'fluff' is an absolute pain to get out of the pot and I spent the majority of the time shaking it every which way possible. It was also quite tricky to get it on to the nail without just going all over the table. Once it was on however, the nails really start to look good. I tried to touch up little bits that I had missed with my polish but the brush was getting absolutely covered in fluff, I really don't know how it would be possible to do more than one layer without ruining your nail polish brushes. Because of this I just left my nails how they were which were more or less 'ok'. I didn't really know what to do after my nails had dried but my hands were covered in fluff so decided to wash them. It was really strange as the fluff just got wet and bits here and there were starting to fall off, and they started looking like a balding mans head (as can be seen in the picture above). This wasn't bad for a first attempt however, having my nails like this for the last 3 hours the majority of the fluff has come off and all that's left reminds me when you brush past something with wet nails.

Overall I'm not too upset but would have really loved if this product has worked. I paid £2 and although I usually recommend MUA I was a little unsure how this product would work. I think the idea is good but the product and the practicality really let it down. I would be prepared to pay more to guarantee that it was going to be better quality.

Have you tried MUA Fur-effect Nails?

Contact Lenses

Not many of you lovelyeeweas will be aware that I wear contact lenses. So I've been wearing contacts for nearly 3 years and I have to say that there one of the best things I have done. Getting glasses for the first time at the age of 11 meant that had to adjust quickly to wearing them and always felt self-conscious. It’s not that I don't like glasses it’s just I felt personally they didn't suit my face. So, for my 16th Birthday I got Contacts, and since then I wear them practically every day.

I guess this post is a care and advice post about contact lenses. Although my dad has previously worn glasses and contact lenses (he had laser eye treatment) I didn't really feel I had anyone my own age to talk to about it with. Firstly, you can purchase contact lenses from a variety of different stores, I personally get mine from Specsavers as this was my opticians for glasses and they seemed to offer the best deal. Once that’s decided, a decision needs to be made about what duration to want to wear them for, daily, weekly or monthly. I currently use daily as when I originally got them I wasn't going to wear them all the time. It also meant that it they got lost or damaged it wouldn't be such a problem as I could just replace them with another pair. The weekly’s come in sets of 30 and they tend to last me just over a month depending on how many days I wear them for. Obviously, the monthly’s are more cost effective as you require less lenses but if they get damaged that’s where the excess cost comes in.

Because I wear daily lenses they come in little pots with salt solution. These can be thrown away after using the lenses. Weekly and monthly lenses require bottles of solution and little pots to keep them in and so additional care is need for lenses like that. I would really recommend contact lenses to anyone on the fence about it. Of course it’s important to think about the cost but if you only planning on wearing them on special occasions or like me felt self-conscious in glasses, they really are worth it.

Universtiy Room

I've been living at Uni for about 4 months now, and I finally feel like I'm settled in. My walls have been covered, fairy light strung up and nick-knacks places in every possible place. I sensed it was about time that I shared my little room at the end of the corridor with you.

For me, a room should be somewhere that you feel happy, safe and comfortable. When I lugged all my belongings up 5 flights of stairs in September, I stared at the empty room before me and couldn't wait to fill it with my things. It was so bland and unloved. It’s hard to imagine that in less than 6 months I will be clearing this room out and again and moving into a different house. For me it was really important to make my room special. It was my first time away from home where I didn't know anyone and knew that my room was going to be important place to escape what was going on at times. Being at the end of a quite corridor really does mean that I have my own space. I can come in, shut the door and be in my own world. The walls are covered with pictures of my family and friends. The pictures make the room full with memories and happiness from back home.

It’s really strange how a room has the power to transport you to a certain place or completely change you mood but I am so happy to be able say that my room does just that!

"The world is like a book, those who do not travel only read one page"
This is one of my favourite quotes, it completely sums up my opinion of the world. I've always wanted to travel ever since I was little. However, with the world being such a big place and me being a fleck of dust in the scheme of things, its been near impossible pinpointing the areas in particular that I want to visit.
Before heading to University this year I brought a world map, I've marked on any places I've been to and I hope throughout my life the map will become covered with all the amazing adventures I have been on. Although I only been to a few places it makes me proud to able to look at where I have travelled. It makes me excited to see what the world has to offer and I can't wait to get started on my journey. I'm really hoping to travel to some places over the summer, just wish I had a travel buddy! I would loved to know places you would recommend in this big wide world

Soap and Glory Bargains

Soap & Glory is a brand that I've always loved. With its play on words and retro packaging its a brand that most people know and love. I constantly see beauty gurus and other bloggers highly reguarding the brand and having only tried the Rightous Butter before I was keen to try out some of the other products they had to offer. Boots had a really great 3 for 2 offer on before Christmas. The offer was avaliable across the whole store, however, I stayed firmly in the Soap & Glory section of the shop. The first item I picked up was the Pulp-Friction scrub which smells amazing. It has little beads inside and I know that its going to be brilliant at waking me up on a cold January morning. I've just used up the last of my body butter the day before so it was the perfect opportunity to try something new. Theres so much choice but I decided to go for Butter Yourself. I'm one of those people who prefers a milder smelling moisturiser and this one feels alot more natural than some of the others. The final item I picked up was Scrub Your Nose In It, this was a little random and I knew that as long as it was less that £8.00 I would get it for free. This gave me the opportunity to try something different than what I would usually go for. I never really tend to change my skin care routine too much as it often leads to bad breakouts but I thought I would try this. This is the only product that I have used so far and I have to say I love it. I hope to post a full review at some point soon but I'm really happy with it considering that it was effectively free too! This haul has really sparked an interest in Soap & Glory products, please leave any suggestions of your favourites in the comments, I can't wait to try more out!
