Fresh Starts and New Beginnings...

Every year I set myself some targets for the year rather than resolutions. That way even if it takes me till November to achieve I know that I have all year to aim for. I sometimes find that resolutions can mean that one day you're trying to act like a completely different person to the day before and this can often lead to unrealistic goals.

For the past 2 years, on this very day,  I have made a blog post about my aims for the year, which you can check out here, I really can't believe this is my third time doing a post like this! Below are the targets I set myself for the year 2013 and whether I achieved them or not.

Lose 2 stone
(Yes, that final 2 stone)
Ok, so I will be completely honest with this one, I ended up putting on a stone! Yes, I know, how completely opposite this is and was extremely disappointing considering I had lost 3 stone the year before. However, having spent much of the year on and off diets, yo-yo-ing between weights I'm finally ready to give my full attention and lose the weight I have been going on about!

Create a schedule of when I'm going to Blog or do Uni work

I definitely made massive improvements with my scheduling this year. As previously being someone who would leave things to the very last minute or be generally lazy, I am a lot better than I use to be. You may have noticed that haven't blogged much over the past month and this is something that I really need to work on. I tend to pour all of my time into one area, usually either Uni or blogging. I know that finding the correct balance will help me so much!

Start making You Tube videos

Yay! This is something that i can truthfully say I finally did. Although it has had to take a back seat recently. After New year I am determined to start it up again as it is something that I enjoy so much that I can't wait to start uploading again!

Stop being so God Damn shy!

This is most likely my proudest achievement of the year! Of course I am still extremely shy by any ones means, but if you could see me last year you would notice a complete transformation. I'm so much happier now and while I still feel a little panicky when meeting a lot of people for the first time, I am so much better than I use to be, and that is solely down to pushing myself out of my comfort zone!

Stop worrying so much what other people think of me

Deep down, I think everyone worries what people think of them. I know I certainly do, and although I have got a lot better and I think I need to accept the way I am and people can just deal with it!

Visit a foreign country

Now this hasn't been a main focus on my blog, but in June I visited America with one of my best friends for 3 weeks. We travelled around the west coast and had an absolutely amazing time and met some wonderful people. I am certain that it is something that I will never forget for the rest of my life and I really hope I never do! It has definitely made me a lot more excited for travelling more.

Photograph the special moments

I have definitely been taking a lot more photos this year and trying to capture as many memories as possible. I certainly hope to take a lot more next year too!

Take a road trip with friends

unfortunately this didn't happen this year due to being busy but we are all saving our money this year so hopefully next summer, a road trip or spa day will be on the cards!

Work hard with University work

For the first half of the year I worked solidly at completing my first year of university and was pretty proud of the result I received at the end of the year. Since September I have at times found it difficult to continue working as hard knowing that I am not enjoying the course as much as last year, it can often be hard to find the determination to continue. That being said I am looking forward to what the course has to offer this term.

Smile and be grateful for what I have

I actually wrote a post yesterday that I am yet to upload talking about how grateful I have come to be recently and now realise how proud I should be of what I have the people around me. We often get too obsessed on what we don't have rather than what we do have.

So now, it finally does to my goals for 2014...

Spend more time with family and friends

Organise my time efficiently to make the most out of it

Make new friends and spend time getting to know people better

Lose weight (3st)

Travel abroad

Continue to upload regularly on my blog and youtube

Appreciate all the things that I am lucky to have

Accept the way I am

The past 2 years i have come up with 10 targets to stick to. however, this year i decided that rather than racking my brain to try and get my targets up to 10, I would just concentrate on these 8 that I really feel passionate about sticking to.
I truly hope everyone has a brilliant new year and all your dreams for 2014 come true!

Autumn Blogger Swap

There is nothing quite like a gift in the post.
A couple of months ago, I signed up to a 'Autumn Blogger Swap' hosted by Katie who blogs over at curledfantasies. She then paired us up based on our budges and timescales. Having never done a swap before, I was a little apprehensive as to what would be the outcome and to who I would be paired with. I had no need to worry though, I was partnered with the lovely Charlotte who blogs at Littlemissclouise. I wasn't quite sure the best way to find out the types of things we loved but we began sending emails back and forth. We each sent about 30 emails to each other in the end so it wasn't surprising when my gifts arrived that I was more so happy with the products she had picked for me. We even decided to send little letters to each other telling one another about ourselves and the products we had picked for them. Charlotte picked some really nice pieces and I can't quite believe she bought me the exact sort of things that I like. The majority of the products had an autumn theme that were perfect for me as I mostly use neutral colours when in comes to make up. My favourite item is most likely the Models Own Lip-Stix. I own a shade very similar in a Revlon stick but this one is a lot less orange and I can already tell I will be opting for this one a lot during this season.
The lovely things I received from Charlotte-
Revlon Colourstay- Adventurous
Models Own Lip-Stix
Natural Collection eyeshadow- Asteroid
Rimmel London eye definer- Perfect Plum
Dairy Milk Winter Wonderland
Overall, I'm so glad I did the swap, it was so much fun and really excited sending my gifts off. Plus, it has been great getting to know Charlotte and I really hope we will stay in touch.

OOTD Winter Favourite

Shirt- Charity Shop
Jumper- Asos
Necklace- Primark
Leggings- Matalan
Chelsea Boots- Primark
Firstly, I must apologise for my lack of blogging over the past week or so. I had been so good at blogging regularly and then suddenly, I hit 'the block'. I'm sure most bloggers will know what this feels like but it is frustrating nonetheless.
What better way to get through this then an outfit of the day? I have been obsessed with shirts and jumpers recently, they are so simple to achieve but are really on trend at the moment. As a jumper obsessive, I love to style them with leggings and a cosy hat for a winter afternoon, but I am also completely in love with this style at the moment. It is a really comfy outfit, and believe me, I love being comfortable, plus it is super stylish this season.
What is your go to outfit this time of year?

Origrami Vintage Prints

I spent quite a bit of time last year trying to make my room feel as homely as possible. Although I was extremely happy with how my room turned out it made it more difficult this year, being in a new room and house to make myself feel comfortable and safe. Last year I had well over 150 photos dotted around my room, and they certainly helped remind me of home when I missed it most. This year however, I wanted to just pick a few of my favourite photos and have these displayed on my wall. I search online for many hours looking for somewhere I could get my photos printed in a interesting way. I then came across a company called Origrami. They are Australian company that can prin your Instagram photos either in square print or Polaroid style. I decided to choose Polaroid so that I could write underneath the photo if I wanted to.

The website was great value and cost $21.95 AUS dollars which worked out at around £13.00, and with free shipping I was more that excited to place my order. I chose my 36 prints from my Instagram and waited patiently for them to arrive. There was  also an option to have a map showing where the photo was taken on the back, but since I uploaded many of mine a few days after I had taken them, I thought it would be better to leave the photos blank. I'm so happy with how the photos came out they look quite old fashioned and give a feeling of history which is exactly what I wanted as many of the pictures remind me of happy memories from my past. After buying these prints I would absolutely recommend this website and can't wait to place my next order with them!

Expect my room tour in the next few weeks where I will photograph how I displayed these beautiful snaps. I have a few ideas running around my head at the moment!

Nowseen.com Launch

Stock photos courtesy of nowseen.com

Nowseen.com is a new company launching in the next few weeks that provide affordable stylish jewellery to fashion conscious customers who are looking to invest in in good quality jewellery.
Now I've only had chance to look at some of the stock photos online but can already tell that the collection is going to be a hit. I've posted some of my favourite pieces above. I think the best thing about them is that they are understated and beautiful with out being too over the top to appear fake. My favourite would probably be the bottom one, I just love the simplicity of the plain band but it still gives a statement to any outfit.
If you want to hear about when Nowseen.com launch then be sure to like their Twitter and Facebook page as they are currently running loads of competitions in the run up to their launch including the chance to win £200 worth of jewellery from their A/W collection and hear the latest news and exclusive promotions. Go. Like. Now!

Ebay Wish List

Whenever I'm tralling the internet I always seem to end up on Ebay looking through the never ending pages of amazing products and baragins they have to offer. My favourite would have to be the black heeled shoes. They look perfect for any winter outfit and aren't too high so could be worn during the day. I really want to buy them and hope I have the courage to where such striking boots. Although the grey dress I picked is really simple I think it would be perfect for teaming with a beautiful piece of jewellery and leather jacket. Also, i guess this is slightly cheating but i have ordered the gameboy phone case already. I just couldn't help myself, it's too cute.

Given the fact that summer is evidently on the way out I was extremely excited when my friend suggested we took a road trip to Portsmouth to take in the sites before the cold takes over. It's only about a half an hour drive from Southampton so I couldn't quite believe that I hadn't thought about visiting there before. Although it was slightly colder than we would hope once we started walking along the seafront we soon started to warm up. The town itself was really beautiful, filled with small pubs and full of history. I'm not sure quite what it is but the smell of being by the sea always reminds me of my childhood.

I managed to take my big camera with me so spent the day snapping away at the pretty sites and taking in the seaside air. It was so nice to go off exploring in a city I had never been to before. It's definitely revived my love to travel around the UK and see as much as I can of this beautiful little island we live on, weather permitting of course!

Signed Kate Moss Book

As a twitter obsessive I often spend lots of time scrolling through my new feed. A couple of weeks ago I saw that the St Tropez twitter page were holding a giveaway for the chance to win a signed Kate Moss book. All you had to do was tell them what you had been up to this summer. It sounded like such a great prize I quickly typed out my tweet, hit the reply button and carried on with my day.

"Spent 3 weeks traveling around the west of America with my best friend"

I'll be completely honest when I say I had actually forgotton about the giveaway. I don't enter many but just assumed someone else had won and since I didn't know when the giveaway closed I thought my chance had gone. That was until I was contacted by St Tropez to tell me I had won! I actually couldn't believe it. I know that everyone says this but I rarely win anything so was beyond chuffed. I DM my address and waited patiently at the door for the package to arrive.
I was absolutely blown away when it arrived as the book is massive. As for the content inside, the photographs are absolutely beautiful and show the transitions through Kate's career from to teenager to women. The book displays the talent and elegance that Kate Moss often represents. I currently have the book resting on the top row of my book case but would really like to get it on show as I think it is a beautiful book that everyone should have the pleasure of looking at.

Becoming Youtube

I'd heard a lot about the becoming YouTube series but always brushed it off, perhaps my naivety got the better of me and as I had no clue what the videos where about I never really thought about watching them. A few days ago last week after wasting the usual endless hours on the Internet I was a little bit lost so decided to see what the series I had heard so much about but knew so little about would have to offer. Let me tell you I was blown away!

Now I don't know much about Benjamin Cook other than he has bright red hair but he is incredibly talented when it comes to making and producing quality film videos with the perfect balance between thought provoking questions and comical sketches. If you enjoy watching YouTube videos regularly then you’re likely to get a lot from the series. However, even if you barely head over to the world of YouTube I would still recommend that you check out the series to learn more about the impact social media is having on the world and how this little space on the web has grown into a community in recent years.

Even if you just watch it to see charlieissocoollike smile or to dissect Dan and Phil's every move towards each other I urge you to watch it. I do really believe that there is a whole lot more to the series than just that but if that's going to make you the slightest more interesting in watching it then go for it. I really believe this is one of the most under rated YouTube series!

Check it out, you won't regret it!

Winter Wishlist

Tonight I am heading to a student lock-in at my local shopping centre. I think they run these up and down the country especially for students. It basically means that the shopping centre stays open for longer especially for students and the majority of the shops have discounts and deals available. It can be the worst trap for all students who have just received their loan however I'm quite good (if I do say myself) at making sure my loan last. That being said, I can't wait to hit the shops and start filling my winter wardrobe.
As the shops are usually hectic, I decided to have a quick browse online to see what some of the shops had available in order to get round as many shops as I can... sad I know! But none the less I came across some really beautiful pieces. The clothes above are either from River Island or New Look and I think all of them are beautiful, especially the fox slippers! As you can see I really love tartan this season and although I already own a tartan skirt and really want to add to my collection as much as possible. Although summer is my favourite season I love the autumn style and can't wait to start filling my draws with chunky knits and warms colours.
What are your winter musthaves?

Portobello Market

Portobello Market has become a staple part of Notting Hill as well London over the past 20 years. Having heard its great representation I couldn't wait to check it out on my most recent visit to London. Streets lined with small market stalls and boutique shops were what I had in mind and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It's authenticity to my imagination is what really engaged me and made me fall completely in love with the area.

Just a short walk from Notting Hill Gate tube station, it's central location only adds to the parallel world that Notting Hill is in relation to the built up city. There were a range of items on the stalls from vintage cameras to fruit and veg, there really was something for everyone.

I wasn't really going with the hope of buying anything but stumbled across this beautiful dish that was made in Stafford. Its perfect to fill up my everyday rings with. I coincidentally found this really cute stall selling a large selection of rings, I've been on the hunt for an infinity ring for quite a while, so couldn't resit picking one up for the bargain price of £5. There are a vast range in prices at each stall so would recommend looking at a few before committing to buy one particular item.
Although there is a huge amount of variety there is a large focus on vintage pieces, whether that be clothing or bric-a-brac. I am a huge lover of anything that has history or its own story and there was so much traditional pieces to take a look at. One of my favourite stalls was filled with vintage or second hand shoes and jackets. Levis jackets and Doc Martins in various colours filled the rails and floor, I swear I was in heaven!
I think the main thing that I loved about Portobello was the overall atmosphere. Its something that you don't experience down the local high street or shopping centre. Every stall had a different selection and you never knew what you where going to find or what treasure you where going to uncover

Centre Parcs Nottingham

Today I returned home from a great 5 days in Nottingham. Having not had much chance to spend with my family this summer, my mum decided to book a mid-week trip to Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest knowing full well that the three of us would fully enjoying it. I've been to Center Parcs 3 times before all of which was in Cumbria twice with my Dad over 3 years ago and once when I was about 8 and it was simply called Oasis. For anyone who hasn't heard of Center Parcs it is a wooded area full of lodges, cabins and tree houses (although the price for those is slightly out of my league). They have a huge amount of activities on offer from fitness classes and sport events to pottery making and bowling. For me it is the perfect mix and there is something for everyone, perfect for my family of oddbods.

Knowing what we had in store I couldn't wait to arrive and explore what there was to offer. We were staying in one of the new lodges and I couldn’t believe quite how nice they were, the perfect size for my little family. There were so many activities on offer it was difficult to pick; we ended up playing badminton, table tennis, full size snooker (at my brother’s request) and bowling. Me and my Mum also opted for Aqua Zumba, something I personally had never heard of and was quite interested in trying. I would highly recommend it as you can completely embrace every part of the class without feeling that you are making a fool of yourself in front of everyone else. Of course, there is a whole tropical area complete with pool, Jacuzzi and rides, that is completely free so for me a real winner, I mean, who doesn't love a wave machine?!

Unfortunately my brother became sick near the end of the holiday so we couldn’t do all of the activities that we had planned but we all had a great time. It’s such a magical place and there was constantly wildlife sat outside the patio door. I think that most surprising was a massive swan that seriously scared me out of my skin. Along with that were squirrels, rabbits and various species of birds. It was beautiful to see something so natural right outside you door. Although I have been to Center Parcs before, I really felt I appreciated it on a different level this time as an adult. I really can't wait to go back and was hoping Christmas would be an option, however have a butcher (turkey galore) and a coffee shop manager (turkey dinner galore) for family members makes the timing extremely limited. Plus of course the clear price increase. Boo! I do however, hope to go back very soon and look forward to perhaps taking my friends there at some point. Going to Center Parcs has really revived my love for the most natural things in life.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain

I'm not sure about anyone else but I always buy lip products when I go into shops, it one of the things that I am most drawn to. I know that some people have an abundance of nail polishes or eye shadows where as for me it always lipsticks and balms. You can then of course imagine my delight at finding Revlon lip stains. I'm a fan of Revlon products and they always seem to work really well. So when I saw these beautiful balms I knew I had to try them.
I initially bought the shade honey as this is usually the shade that I go for when it comes to most lipsticks and balms, it has hints of pink but is still quite natural and perfect for wearing during the day. After trying it out for a couple of days, I was blown away with how great the product it, it stay on your lips for ages and I think that it is personally the perfect combination between a matte and shiny finish. One thing that surprised me was the smell of the balm, it is quite minty, almost reminding me Polo's. However being a lover of everything mint it was really nice to have a scent to the balm which you don't get with a lot of lip products. I recently picked it up in the shade 'rendezvous' which is a great coral colour perfect for autumn. At the moment I am wearing them most days and really think they are a great product. I can't wait to see what other colours are available to add to my collection.

10 Year Old Film Photographs

There is something so nostalgic about looking through old photographs and reliving memories. My Mum has been meaning to develop 29 camera films for so long. The films were abandoned in the age of the digital revolution and have laid forgotten at the back of a cupboard for nearly 10 years. Yesterday we finally got all the films developed and had the opportunity to rummage through all the photographs and look back on our younger selves. Luckily there was nothing to shocking but it help to relive my childhood and remind me of things that I had completely forgot about, old friends, old clothes and my sense of naivety
Getting the films developed has definitely re-established my love for film cameras. I took a film camera with me to America as I love the effects they give. I'm yet to get the film developed but I can't wait to see the outcome as I think the anticipation is definitely part of it. I'm really going to make an effort to take more photos both on film and digital as I truly believe a photo can hold a thousand memories.
